Roller Sneakers

They look like ordinary sneakers. They squeak like sneakers and feels like a sneaker. But they are actually sneakers with a wheel in the heel. They are called “Healy.” The wheel is removable made of high-performance polyurethane. Each wheel has a hi-tech ABEC micro bearing, the same as is used in the wheels of inline skates. They really move along. The ride is so smooth that the wearer looks as though he/she is levitating. When is a sneaker not a sneaker and when is a skate a shoe?

I know, that sounds silly. Really it is a serious question. Christians contend regularly with confusing and contradictory issues concerning how someone appears and how he or she behaves. Jesus spoke of similar situation in Matthew 23. "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.”

When is a Christian not a Christian? When we look at the religious leaders of Jesus’ day with, John the Baptist, who would you say is a follower of God? In the end, it is not what one says, but what one does that matters eternally. The Christian faith is a “showy faith.” It is not completely private. James put it like this; James 2:18, “But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.”

We are all transparent before God. We hide nothing – not actions, not intentions, and not wheels hidden in the heels.
